Steph and I had another craft night last week and we made some pretty ribbon flowers. Awhile ago, I started learning how to make ribbon flowers... and every time I sit down to make them... I realize just how much time it takes and how patient I need to be. I finally taught myself how to make a rose...yay. Of course my roses pale in comparison to the really old ones that I have seen and love so much but I am having fun doing it and learning as I go.
Earlier this year, I had all of these visions of selling beautiful products with ribbon flowers dripping all over them... but now I am certain that I would go crazy if I had to sit there and make them all the time. I just do not have the patience for mass production of these little babies....
I used the beautiful silk and velvet ribbons from my shop... they worked SO nicely. I have tried to make them with regular craft store ribbons and they just don't ever look the same. I think that is why the vintage ones are so appealing... they always used such lovely ribbons back then... nope, no fake plastic rubbery stuff back then for sure.
these are my roses! I am so proud of them... even made some cute little leaves.
These little three petal flowers are SO fun to make and one of the easier types. Maybe sometime I will do a little tutorial here on my blog for you to see how to make them...
Steph brought these cutest ever little rhinestone's for the centers... I love them. I need to make some more of this style.
These rolled velvet roses are not perfect... but I just love making them and they are so so cute.
I embellished this vintage purse with one of them... looks so sweet on there, yes?
So there we have it... another crafting adventure! lol I love having craft nights because it makes us get things done we want to do, but could easily put off if we didn't plan for them.
Tonight I am going to relax and watch tv and finish up this girls book for a round robin I am in... I am running late late late on it.
Hope you guys had a great holiday weekend (well a holiday for those of you that live in the US!)... we had such a nice weekend. My oldest son plays the drums and he played for an outdoor park festival on the 4th of july. The weather was gorgeous... there was a creek there for my little son to play in and my husband and I just enjoyed sitting back and relaxing under a big oak tree. I loved it! It was a perfect weekend.
Talk to you all soon! xoxo Heather
