Itty Bitty Hats

 

I made a few itty bitty hats for my sweet garden statue... ;) I love to dress up my garden statues and I use them inside my house all the time. This girl is my favorite. I have had her somewhere in my house for years and I never tire of her sweet face. She is too pretty to put outside. haha

 

This one is more of a crown than a hat since I used the chicken wire base for it.... I also used some of that french fabric and millinery flowers I got at the flea market on Sunday too.

 

 

 

 

This one is meant to be a little top hat... a girlish one of course. The base for it is from my son's trix yougart container! haha  Love this one too.

I am debating on making a few little bitty hats for sale. I used to make hats all the time for my website but the  supply of vintage millinery is not endless so I haven't been making them lately.

 

 

 

 

I am off now to grocery shop and figure out something for dinner... but wanted to share my itty bitties with you. I need to get off the computer... it is sucking up too many hours today. lol!

Did you ever have one of those days where you just seem restless to find a new path, be a better person, make a difference in life, pay closer attention to the true meaning of things instead of focusing on such silly little things.... I am having one of those days today. Just kindof reflective I guess.

Went to the Flea Market today...

SO excited, today was our favorite antique market, the first one of the year! I went with my Mom and we met up with Stephenie while we were there. so fun! Next time I will try to remember to take pics while I am there.

I bought all sorts of little bits. I told myself I was not going to buy a whole bunch of little things and wanted to find something BIG to bring home , but, what did I do???

It is just hard to resist all these little bits!

 

This basket is the closest thing I came to something "big"... lol.

 

I LOVE these little flowers, I popped them off of a hat that I found. They are such a pretty color of blue.

 

This little frame is so tiny... and the fabric underneath is french (atleast that is what the lady told me) . I never find french fabric here EVER...

found a sweet little vintage candy box....

 

This is my favorite find of the day. It is a velvet photo album in the prettiest cranberry color... the inside is full of beautiful photo mats. I love the velvet front with the celluloid flowers.

this picture has some water damage... but I don't think I mind because it is so beautiful.

 

 

 

found sooooo many cards and photos today... I love to sort through these.

 

 

These wedding ones are my faves... I think they must have been double and triple weddings. How fun for friends to get married at the same time!

 

 

 

I adore this little girl..

 

So what will I do with it all?? I have no idea... haha.

Some of the things will find their way to my shop, some will go to artwork, and others will just be enjoyed I guess. ;))

Pretty Inspiration

This is a super quick post today... but was excited to share my new inpiration board I made. Steph and I agreed that we would have a craft night about once a month and make a project that we have been wanting to do. SO last night we got together and had a few sour apple martinis... and made them. Fun! I have been wanting to make one for SO long... so glad we did it. It was a little bit hard not to pile a million things on the board! I took lots of pictures because I love every single thing on this board. It is inspiring me so much...

 

 

 

 

 

I know... lots of pictures.. I always feel like I post tons of pictures on my blog posts. But I love the DETAILS you know??

Well, my little guy and I have a date to go and buy some pansies for the garden. He is on a mission to plant a vegetable garden this year and I keep trying to explain that it is a little too early to plant them. He got this new game called Gardening Mama for his Nintendo DS and is ALL into the gardening! cracks me up. SO off we go... enjoy this gorgoeus day everyone!

Altered Apron Swap

Over the last month a small group of us have been working on an altered apron swap that Stephenie and I hosted. The way it worked was each of us altered an apron with embellishments in a pretty, artistic way. We didn't have partners... each one of us made an apron for someone, but recieved one from someone else. It was kindof like a circle of aprons!

You should SEE the gorgeous aprons pouring into our flickr group... you can see them all here if you like.

 

So anyway, this apron here is the apron I created for Dara of Sophie Rose Designs. Dara said she loved pale pink and pale blue as her favorite colors... and I KNOW she loves ruffles. SO I had this gorgeous vintage nightgown in the palest of blues... and the ruffles are from a vintage childs dress. I sewed them together to create a ruffley apron for her.

 

I often think of Dara's art as having a quite elegant feel to it so I tried to make the apron a little on the classy side, just like Miss Dara.

 

but with a little ruffled flair of course!

 

It was fun to make and I am hoping she loved getting it as much as I loved making it for her.

 

I also created a little special treat for her sweet little girl Sophie Rose. This apron is teeny sized.. ;). I happened to find a plain white childs apron among my stash when I was working on this project. so I whipped up this sweet little apron for her daughter too! I had so much fun making these aprons... can you tell?

 

The belle in her garden is a small vintage table runner that I cut in half. I still have the other half here and would love to make one for me too! I just love childrens things. I hope Miss Sophie likes it! hehe

This beautiful confection was created  for me by Jessica of Such Pretty Things. I absolutly adore the flocked sheer fabric... and the beautiful vintage velvety millinery flowers she used.

 

SO sweet and pretty....

 

It reminds me of a vintage crinoline skirt, don't you think? I am sure she must know that I love those!

 

 

So so pretty... thank you so much Jessica! I will treasure it. ;))

So there you have it... the apron swap was a success! Thanks to all the ladies that played along with us. I am totally and completely addicted to aprons right now. I encourage all of you to get those vintage aprons out that you have stashed in your pile... and embellish them with all your favorite things!

Happy Easter!

Just stopping by to wish everyone a Happy Easter. I hope you had a wonderful day with your families today.

We had a great Easter. I am just sitting down to relax a little. It was gorgeous weather and we had such a nice time enjoying the kids and spending the day with family. I am trying to get used to hosting some holidays now, as we have mostly always went to our parents for holiday dinners over the years. I think it might take me a little while to get myself organized enough that I am not running at the last minute for this forgotten ingredient or that. Hopefully by the time I am a Grandma I will have it all together. lol!

 

This pretty lil egg is a treasure I recieved from Andrea. I set it right in front of my very favorite holy family picture. Love it.  I might just keep it there for awhile past Easter.

 

and of course, I had to show you our colored easter eggs... even my oldest helped and that made me happy!

So now I think I will make myself some tea, and sit back and read my new Somerset Life magazine. Talk to you all soon, xo Heather

Paper Doll Journal~ finished

You may remember that I mentioned that I am participating in a round robin journal that Lori is hosting? The theme is paper dolls. I already posted a few of these pages but wanted to show you all of them now that I have it done. You may remember the cover above from a previous post.

This is the inside of the cover..

How cute is this little princess? Using the old ledger was nice because the background paper is so cool.

Next is a sign in page. There is a tag for each of us to sign our names. I love this page.

   

Next is the girl in her gown... the page to the left of her is still a bit unfinished. today while I was taking photos I decided to change something so I didn't get the photos of that one. We were only supposed to create 2 pages but since I had a sign in page I ended up making 4.

 

This girl I loved but she didn't fit into my pages very well so I glued her to the back cover. I think I might have gone a little carried away with these paper dolls! haha

Thanks so much for looking at my book! I am off to do some cleaning now that the kids are asleep. I am having easter here at my house on Sunday so there is much to be done! xo Heather
