Joy of Cupids Charm, is hosting a Marie Antoinette birthday Soiree today... and of course I had to join in!! hehe.
Gotta love this girl.... I mean, the whole idea of her is so romantic. Young, beautiful, a great sense of style and grace, her tragic story... all the makings for a romantic novel isn't it???
The beauty of her life is so artistically inspiring. I love the colors and designs of that time in history. I am often reminded when I think of Marie Antoinette just how tragic her life really was, even though it seemed as if she had everything a girl desired.
A little bit of history for you.... This portrait was sent from the Austrian Court to the future Louis XVI: it's the first portrait of Marie-Antoinette that Louis had ever seen.
AMazing huh?? Look how young she was in this portrait. She was basically traded to France at the age of 14 as an agreement of peace between Austria and France. At the age of 19 she became queen. Imagine what it must have been like for her to be queen at the age of 19?
As some of you may remember, last year a few friends and I worked on an amazing project. We participated in a Marie Antoinette International round robin and our books literally traveled the whole way around the globe.
My book traveled first to England to my sweet friend Ginny... next to Natasha (who by the way is arriving here at my house in ONE week!!) in the Land Down Under... and then off to Holly in Oklahoma. I love to imagine it traveling all the way around the earth.
I thought I would share a few detail photos of some of my favorite pages. The work we put into these books was really quite rewarding in the end.
So I will let you in on a little secret... our books currently are with the Somerset Editors awaiting their debut in an exciting publication coming in April 2009... it is a special publication titled MARIE!!! Can you EVEN wait to see this beautiful publication??? You can find more info about it HERE. Lots and Lots of gorgeous artwork will be featured and I simply cannot wait to see it!!
Hope you have a wonderful week! I also wanted to say thank you all so much for such kindness about my artful blogging article. ;)

Can't wait to visit all of the blogs for the Marie party! xoxo Heather
