Art is healing

I created this necklace over the weekend. It was the best weekend because I mostly just lounged around in my pj's and made stuff.

 

This past year I have been through alot... and I am so happy that i finally feel like creating things again. I think ART heals people. I think that those of us that have that creative side have been given such a gift.

 

 

I think it looks pretty with my new dress!

 

 

I also made this journal a little while ago... I love this lady. I think she is beautiful.

Vintage Wallpaper Krush

I have been trying to make some vintage wallpaper covered boxes with some of my favorite papers... I got up this morning and made myself a cup of coffee and got to work finishing these.

 

 

These are the two I have done so far. They were not very easy to cover though! it is a very time consuming craft!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The smaller pencil box was the easier of the two... I had trouble wrapping the paper around the corners so I opted to just cut the paper to size on each side... and then paint a little bit where you could see the box. Not ideal... but it worked!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 This is a larger box.. it is one of those decorative boxes you can get at the craft store.. they have a whole aisle of these at Michaels in all different sizes.

 

 

 

 It will be great for storage and it was already decorated cute on the inside..

Pockets

 I created a few pockets last night... I am using them in my craft closet to organize some of my postcards and other paper things.

 

 

 I have an idea for how I want to display these... I will have to show you that another day if I finally get to hanging them up. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I  left the tops open so I can tuck some things inside.

I created a few little  hearts this week... I love Valentines Day. These are just velvet... lace and paper sewn together. Super easy. I was thinking maybe i should make a banner with them, just haven't gotten that far yet. :)

I have been trying to gather old photos from my relatives to make a photo wall in my house.  I was so excited when my great aunt gave me this picture to copy of my great grandparents... isn't it beautiful? I can't keep this original picture... but I am going to have a large copy printed and scour some antique shops for an oval frame I can use to try to recreate it so I can have one similar for my house.

This is my Nuni... She died when I was around 12.  I adored her.. LOVE this photograph of her on her wedding day ... love that veil... and can you see how they hand tinted the roses blue? So pretty.

A little bit of creative time..

Ive been organizing all of my supplies into a craft closet for myself... and so it has sparked a little creative time... :) There is nothing better than sitting down with a cup of coffee and making something pretty I think.
