I am still working on some projects in my house and one of them is my dining room... I wanted to buy some colored crystals for my chandelier but had heard of using glass paint to color the crystals so I gave it a try.
It worked great! I found that I really liked the look of the paint just barely there... almost like it has aged off over time.
Here is the paint I used, I got it at Michaels Craft Store... Emerald (glossy) is the color I chose. I am sure it would be at any arts supply store. I found it in the section for stained glass making.
I just kindof took a paint brush and painted here and there especially around the edges, and then had warm water and paper towels nearby so that I could gently dab at them removing some of the paint to get them just right. I learned that less is more with this project. You have to be quick because the glass paint dries very fast. Don't they look like they have been around for years??
The directions on the paint say to bake the paint after you apply it, I didn't do that... I just left them go as is and I clean them with hot soapy water and it doesn't come off.
the wall still is not finished being painted in this photo... waiting for husband to remove my shelf for me so if you see that streak of gray to the left you are not seeing things...lol!!
So anyway, if you were ever wanting some pretty colored crystals for your chandie, maybe you might want to try the paint! Love how it adds a pop of color to the room.
Happy Memorial Day to my Amercian friends! We have been busy this weekend. My Mom and I went to the antique fair today as vendors trying to get rid of some of our antiques (junk) that we have been keeping in the garages.... I had to get up at 3:30 in the morning and leave my house by 4:30... I am exhausted. It was SO hot today too... but I had a great day with my Mom and sold a bunch of my stuff. that is the good part. Tomorrow we are making shish kabobs...and maybe going on a picnic at the lake. Flea markets and picnics... a great start to summer! Talk to you soon. :)
