I love old letters, love to read them and daydream about what life must have been like back then.
I love the penmanship...
Don't you love the beautiful hotel stationary? I found a beautiful letter from a Father to his Daughter in a stack that I bought this past summer. I wanted to share... the letter is dated May 14, 1915
My Dear Francies,
I recieved your letter you dictated. I am sure if you like your dresses & bonnets I am well pleased. I sent you a small package yesterday. I know you will be surprised when you recieve it.
I am sure it was kind of you to send me 544 loves & 544 kisses and I am going to send you love, kiss, love, kiss, love, kiss, love, kiss, love, kiss, love, kiss, love, kiss, BIG HUG.
I am going to come home week after next and I am going to stay at home. I am as big and fat as I was last summer down at Wildwood.
With lots of love & kisses,
from Daddy
IS that not the SWEETEST?? I have one more letter written to little Francies from her Daddy that was dated two days before this one. It says
My Dear Francies,
I came up to see the the Dr. and he says I can go home on May 27th. That is two weeks from tomorrow. I don't expect to stay in Philadelphia today. I am going down on the 1:30 train. I recieved a lettter from Mother last night at 9:30pm
With lots of love and kisses to you and Mother,
from Daddy
Such sweet little glimpses of time...
*I wonder if Daddy was hurt and that is why the Doctor had to ok him to go home? World War I was going on then.
*Do you think Daddy sent Francies the dresses and bonnets as a surprise?
* I wonder why Daddy told her he was big and fat, was she worried about him and asking if he was eating ok in one of her letters to him?
*I wonder how old little Francies was?? and how CUTE That she sent him 544 kisses and hugs!
* I wonder if Daddy made it home to his sweet family ok?
Most likely little Francies kept these letters for years and years. It is sad that these letters ended up in the hands of an antique dealer and not passed down to the family.
There is something so special about a Daddy and his daughter. I feel so privileged to be the keeper of this precious moment in time... and I will treasure it.
xo Heather
p.s.- Got about 8 more inches of snow last night!
